OPPORTUNITIES OF USING ONLINE COURSES AND DATABASE SOFTWARE AT THE NORAVANK FOUNDATION

A seminar on Opportunities of Using Online Courses and Database Software at the Noravank Foundation took place on April 2, 2015 at the Noravank Foundation. Anna Zhamakochyan, Head of the Educational Centre of the Foundation and Tatevik Karaughlanyan, Expert at the same Centre, made presentations.

T. Karaughlanyan presented the database structure of the Noravank Foundation and some data from the already existing database. She then spoke about Massive Open Online Course (MOOC) creation and spread all over the world, and brought the examples of some leading Western platforms (Coursera, EdX, Udacity, Futurelearn, OpenupEd, etc.). The presenter also pointed out the important example of Khan Academy, inviting an attention to its Armenian section.

A. Zhamakochyan continued the topic and spoke about ideological, financial aspects, voluntary principles and investments of Open Educational Resources (OER). The capabilities of online video platforms (Youtube, Vimeo, etc.) were also presented, along with the instances of their application in Armenia.

The presentations were followed by discussions on the topic.
