ROUND TABLE DISCUSSION – 70TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE GREAT VICTORY: LESSONS OF HISTORY AND CONTEMPORARY PROBLEMS

On April 30, 2015 the Noravank Foundation and Eurasian Expert Club jointly organized a round table discussion “70th Anniversary of the Great Victory: Lessons of History and Contemporary Problems”.

Presentations were made by Gagik Harutyunyan, Director of Noravank Foundation, Artashes Ghazaryan, Professor of ASUE, Avag Harutyunyan, Director of Mother Armenia Military Museum, Col. Mikael Melkonyan, Vagharshak Harutyunyan, former RoA Minister of Defense, and Sergey Sargsyan, Deputy Head, Centre for the Political Studies of the Noravank Foundation.

The discussed issues included historical memory and attempts to falsify history, experience of the Military Museum, participation of Armenians in the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945, current combat readiness and military skills of the Armenian Armed Forces.

S. Sukharenko, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Belarus in Armenia, A. Ivanov, Minister-Counsellor of the Embassy of Russia in Armenia, A. Toekin, Counsellor of the Embassy of Kazakhstan in Armenia, members of the Eurasian Expert Club, politicians and public figures, young scientists and journalists participated in the round table discussions.

The event was organized through joint efforts of Integration and Development research/analytical NGO and the Noravank Foundation.
